Parent Experiences
We asked the parents of IB Diploma graduates to reflect on their
child's experience in the program.
How involved were you in your student's decisions when it came to choosing classes and pursuing the diploma?
"Ultimately the decision was hers, she drove the whole process"

"We encouraged our child to pursue the diploma and acquired a general sense of what that would entail but when it got down to choosing classes, she had the best understanding of her specific needs and interests"

What is it like being the parent of an IB diploma candidate?
"IB is a balancing act of support, encouragement, cheerleading and hoping your child to maintain perspective"
"Helping them maintain mental wellness is a big part of it."
"It's like watching someone on a tightrope while walking underneath them with a net.
You hope they don't need you but you're there for them
if they do"
What advice would you give to the parents of future IB candidates?
"This is a lot of work and it needs to be driven by them not you"
"Know what you're getting into, know your student's strengths and weaknesses"
